Recently, my wife and I took a nice trip to Anastasia Island State Park, meeting up with other members of family. If you have never been, I recommend this park. The state park is located near beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. Camping is one of the best activities of getting outdoors for the entire family. It is a great experience for all. Whether you are tent camping or prefer an RV, this campground is located near the ocean. Now, we tent camped in Mid May and the temperature was perfect. It is really starting to heat up so tent camping this time of year may not be the best idea. However, RVing is always the better option during the summer months in Florida and in the Southeastern United States. The water around St.Augustine is absolutely amazing to be near and of course in. The east coast of Florida and its beaches are one of the best in the country. Camping is also an affordable way to travel for lodging expenses if you are going to stay for a period of time. Fishing and kayaking spots abound in the St. Augustine area.

If camping is not your thing, try staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast in old town. Less than ten minutes from Anastasia Island is the old town of St. Augustine. Plenty to do in the old town. St. Augustine was founded in 1565 and is the oldest city in the United States. Across the Bridge Of Lions, you will begin to see the old town with plenty to do. If you enjoy shopping, there are plenty of shops along the brick paved roads. Plenty of places to eat as well, or just walking through the old town admiring the scenery.

I recommend making this a destination for you and your family when it comes time for travel planning. If you are going to tent camp, go in late fall and early spring when the temperature is perfect!
